WanderMom Chronicles: A Journey Across Continents and Life’s Curves

Welcome to WanderMom Chronicles, where I share the wild ride that is my life—a mix of motherhood, travel, and the never-ending quest for purpose and happiness, with a healthy dose of coffee and chaos.

A Bit About Me:

Growing up in Norway from the time I was a toddler I’ve embraced the warmth of wool sweaters, the charm of cozy winters, and the beauty of the scenic fjords that feel like home… But my life took a major turn in my mid-20s when I decided to swap the serene landscapes of Norway for the concrete jungle of New York City. So, I packed up my life and my daughter and headed to the Big Apple, where I spent 12 years experiencing all the highs and lows that only NYC can offer. What exactly did I do there? Let’s just say I’ve got stories that could fill a novel, though some of them are best left to the imagination.

Life Takes an Unexpected Turn:

Just as I was about to wrap up my studies, life threw a curveball in the form of a stroke, which hit me like a surprise plot twist. Suddenly, my plans were upended, and I found myself back in Norway, not just for recovery but for a whole new chapter of life. But wait, there’s more! In 2014, I was diagnosed with ADHD, which, in hindsight, explained a lot—like why I’d start a project with the enthusiasm of a caffeinated squirrel only to abandon it halfway through.

The Struggle with Shiny Object Syndrome:

If you’ve ever been captivated by the allure of the next big thing, you’ll understand my ongoing battle with “Shiny Object Syndrome.” I’ve spent years hopping from one online program to another, always drawn by the promise of creating a flexible income. I’d dive in with excitement, then promptly forget about it as the next shiny thing caught my eye. It wasn’t until 2019 that I decided it was time to buckle down and focus—though with ADHD, “focus” is most times just a word on my to-do list.

A Journey of Self-Discovery:

Now, I’m on a quest to find myself, which might sound like a cliché, but hey, it’s my journey! I’m diving into self-development, trying out mind change techniques, repeating affirmations (because apparently, talking to myself is a good thing), and rekindling my love for travel. I won’t sugarcoat it—sometimes, my life feels more like a peaceful afternoon nap than an epic adventure, but I’ve come to appreciate the beauty in the everyday moments. There’s a lesson in every twist and turn, even if that lesson is just to laugh at the absurdity of it all.

Why WanderMom Chronicles?

I started this blog not just as a creative outlet, but as a way to connect with others who might see a bit of themselves in my story. If my experiences can help someone else feel a little less alone or inspire them to keep searching for their own happiness, then this blog has done its job.

So, if you’re ready to follow along with my wanderings—both the physical ones and the mental rabbit holes I tend to fall down—welcome! Let’s see where this journey takes us.

A Few More Tidbits About Me:

I’m a mother of two: a 26-year-old daughter who got her early education in the hustle and bustle of New York, and a 9-year-old son who keeps me on my toes here in Norway. Despite my best intentions, I’ve never quite mastered the art of finishing what I start, thanks to ADHD. Surviving a stroke at 36 in New York was a pivotal moment in my life, and now, back in Norway, I’ve got a laundry list of interests: photography, sewing, drawing, painting, journaling, ceramics—you name it, I’ve probably dabbled in it and then moved on to something else.

I’m endlessly fascinated by people—what they do, what triggers them, and why humans can be both amazing and perplexing all at once. My biggest dream is to finally crack the code on making a sustainable income from online affiliate marketing—something I’m convinced is just one click away from becoming a reality. Meanwhile, I’m also a student, diving into a one-year university program in Library and Information Science, because honestly, who doesn’t need more books and knowledge in their life?

So, if you’re up for joining me on this unpredictable journey—whether you’re a fellow ADHD adventurer, a travel enthusiast, or just someone who enjoys a good story with a side of humor—stick around. We’ve got plenty to explore together!
